Description:
POSITION SUMMARY:
Transform and inspire the youth in our community! Ensure that our Safe Sober Teen Center by Daggett Shuler is a safe and positive environment for all children after school, and will be dedicated to helping teens feel empowered to reach their full potential in spirit, mind and body.
As the Teen Center Coordinator, you will coordinate, assist, and supervise the Safe Sober Teen Center by Daggett Shuler during operating hours. You will work closely with the Associate Executive Director to coordinate weekly/monthly programming for the kids utilizing this space. Programming includes but not limited to, character development, college and career preparedness, athletics, tutoring, STEM, cooking and social/emotional issues. Additional responsibilities include: working closely with the schools and parents of Reaching Our Potential participants, assisting with record keeping and reports, and providing key leadership in
community events and team meetings. The Teen Center Coordinator must be a team player, organized, able to take initiative, and be recognized as a leader by others. Occasional extended and/or non-traditional hours and/or other duties may be required. The ideal candidate will build strong working relationships with their direct supervisor, the staff at the branch where they are located and most importantly the teens utilizing this space and should be able to work with
minimal supervision.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be 21 years or older
- Experience working with children and a diverse community
- Desire and ability to work with all ages
- Desire to lead from the front, role modeling expectations for team
- Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to apply proactive team management techniques and employ conflict resolution with team as needed.
- Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical situations and physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency.
- Sit, Stand, or maintain physical activity for extended periods of time (including outside and in the pool!)
- 2-4 years of supervisoryexperience in youth development, program management, or community based setting preferred
- CPR and First Aid Certifications preferred
- Ability to work a variable schedule, usually between 2:30 pm and 8:00pm, as well as event coverage on select nights and weekends.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Coordinates the center in accordance with YMCA guidelines, ensuring all programcurriculum and materials are prepared accordingly and accessible.
- Builds effective, authentic relationships with the Teens, Reaching Our Potential
Participants, staff and parents; helps them connect with each other and the YMCA.
Encourages parent involvement and identifies potential volunteers. - Maintains records as required (i.e. center checklist, attendance, food service, staff &student forms, etc.).
- Attends staff meetings and training as scheduled.
- Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations, and procedures, including emergency and
safety procedures. Completes corrective action, discipline, incident, and accident report as necessary. - Ensures that the site is kept organized and all supplies are put away daily. Reports
damaged equipment. - Required to Participate in Aquatics Activities (Including Swimming, or Deck Supervision)
