Telehealth Therapist I / II

POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for meeting the behavioral health counseling needs of the community in the Maniilaq Service Area by providing individual, family, and group therapy, substance abuse treatment, and making appropriate referrals to other programs. Works in collaboration and provides support and guidance to the Behavioral Health Aides and Client Care Coordinators. The Telehealth Therapist reports directly to the Counseling and Recovery Supervisor and or designee. This is a remote position.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Telehealth Therapist I:
A Master’s degree in Social Work, Professional Counseling, Psychology, or Family and Marital Therapy (or the like). Two years’ experience serving in the Maniilaq service area. Has the ability to apply for transfer of professional license from another state and receive Alaska licensure within 3 months of hire.
Telehealth Therapist II:
Has met all minimum qualifications for Telehealth Therapist I. In addition has obtained at least a Master’s Level professional mental health license in Alaska. Examples of qualifying Master’s level licenses include Licensed Professional Counselor (under AS 08.63) and Marital and Family Therapy (under 08.29). Other qualifying Master’s level licensures are (l) Licensure as a Psychological Associate or (2) Terminal Licensure as a Master of Social Work (LCSW)
All Telehealth Therapists are required to have a minimum of a CDC I (or national equivalent) in Alaska, and be registered with the state as a Qualified Addiction Professional.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides individual, family, group psychotherapy treatment, and substance abuse treatment. Adequately documents the treatment process and progress
  • Provides crisis intervention services via telehealth when appropriate.
  • Makes clinical decisions regarding the welfare of patients, including suicide assessments.
  • Provides assessments and consultations to medical staff, police, schools, and other professionals and agencies as requested and when appropriate.
  • Provides case management and coordinates with case managers to make appropriate referrals to community agencies and institutions.
  • Works as part of a team to provide optimal mental health services.
  • Maintains confidentiality of patient records and treatment
  • Meets productivity targets set by supervisors.
  • Attends all staff meetings, supervision, and case consultations as directed by supervisors.
  • Maintains the ability to provide same day services when schedule is open (via scheduled or no shows).
  • Maintains the ability to be on site in the Northwest Arctic at least quarterly, as needed.
