Description:
JOB SUMMARY
Reporting to the Unit Manager the Telemetry Technician (TT) provides continuous surveillance of monitor tracings on the central console located in the telemetry unit. The Telemetry Technician obtains a rhythm strip and correctly identifies and reports any changes to the charge nurse immediately. If acting as HUC, performs secretarial and receptionist duties associated with the patient care unit while serving as a focal communication source at the nurses station. Maintains patient records, transcribes physician orders, assists in coordination of patient location and maintains order at the nursing station.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Basic Computer Skills, Competent in Cardiac Rhythm Interpretation, Attendance of 1st Available Dysrhythmia Recognition Class

- Transcribes physician orders in timely manner, assuring accuracy and compliance with current policies and procedures(EF)
- Maintains charts with adequate forms, verifying all are labeled correctly and contain correct patient information prior to placing in the chart(EF)
- Orders supplies/forms based on unit needs in a cost effective manner(EF)
- Facilitates admissions, transfers, and discharges according to charge nurse, physician, and discharge planner instructions(EF)
