Reporting through the Accounting Officer to the Manager, Accounting Services, the successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day accounting functions to support the Board’s subsidiary systems. As a member of the Financial Services team, the successful candidate will also assist in the development of business pans, workflow modernization and training initiatives to support our system.
The successful applicants for this Temporary Educational Support Staff position, Level D ($47,511 - $57,686), will be working 35 hours per week, 12 months per year, effective as soon as possible to January 6, 2025.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Post secondary education (undergraduate degree or college diploma) in a business related field e.g. Bachelor of Accounting Science, Bachelor of Business Administration, Bachelor of Commerce and Administration
Minimum 3 years’ experience in a role carrying out similar work;
Previous experience working in a charitable organization would be an asset
Experience and proficiency in working in a windows environment using various administrative software packages (MS Office, Adobe Acrobat Professional, G-Suite)

Responsibilities:

Prepare deposits including cash and cheque handling for WRDSB and its subsidiary systems and related tax receipts;
Process accounts payable invoices and cheques and prepare bank transfers for WRDSB and its subsidiary systems;
Request the setup of new general ledger code of accounts for subsidiaries to ensure compliance with internal board policies and all government reporting purposes;
Review Journal entries prepared by schools to ensure accuracy and maintain GL integrity;
Prepare Journal entries for the WRDSB and subsidiary accounting systems;
Calculate bank and financial investment interest allocations, prepare related journal entries and bank transfers for WRDSB and it’s subsidiary systems;
Support WRDSB and subsidiary year end processes including yearly reports from schools, Scholarship awards, school carryover journal entries, etc.;
Monthly account reconciliations and related journal entries including school inter-entity accounts;
Provide excellent customer service and support to school staff on various components of Board’s subsidiary accounting systems – Scholarship, WEFI, School Generated Funds and Student Activities Council (SAC);
Provide training and support to school and Board staff as it relates to procedures, processes, best practices and use of the financial system;
Provide support to the Accounting Officers for all subsidiary entities;
Work collaboratively as a member of the Financial Services teams to meet departmental and organizational objectives;
Other duties as assigned.
