Description:
REPORTS TO: Executive Director
SALARY: $16/hr. Based on training and experience.
WORK SCHEDULE: 6.5 hrs/day: 8:30-3pm, Monday-Friday when school is in session. Follows Classified Calendar.
PURPOSE: Seeking an experienced behavior paraprofessional to assist with the skills training and supervision of special needs student(s) in primary grades.
JOB DESCRIPTION: Under the general supervision of the Behavior Intervention Coach, Classroom Teacher and SPED Teacher, the Behavioral Support Paraprofessional provides specific and intensive support to Muddy Creek student(s) with behavioral issues in accordance with comprehensive positive behavioral intervention plans and utilizing effective behavior management strategies; will work 1:1 with student(s) for short term emergency situations; deliver instructions; participate as a member of the educational team, and help implement all components of the student’s individual program. This is currently a 2 month position with possibility of an additional 1-2 months.
KNOWLEDGE OF:
- Basic concepts of child growth and development and developmental behavior characteristics, particularly pertaining to pupils with special learning needs;
- Behavior management strategies and techniques relating to pupils experiencing behavioral difficulties;
- Positive behavioral interventions and applied behavior analysis;
- Data record keeping systems with or without use of technology;
- Routine record storage, retrieval, and management procedures.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check
- Must be willing to become CPR certified
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 18 years of age or older,
HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA OR EQUIVALENT
- Minimum 2 years of prior experience working with special needs students
- Pursuing coursework in or related to the field of education, preferred

Responsibilities:
- Implements behavior intervention plans and strategies;
- Consults and collaborates with SPED, Classroom teacher & Behavior Coach
- Collects data as part of assessment process;
- Maintains appropriate documentation, records, and reports;
- Works one on one with students with moderate to high behavioral needs;
- Support students through transition into new education settings;
- Performs other duties as assigned.
