AREAS OF FOCUS FOR POTENTIAL CANDIDATES WOULD BE ENHANCING STUDENT SKILLS SPECIFICALLY IN:

  • Machine Shorthand Development
  • Reporting Procedures
  • Transcript Production including proficiency in Case CATalyst software

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Relevant academic degree and/or diploma.
  • Industry experience in the area of court transcription, court reporting, and/or captioning.
  • Current Certified Shorthand Reporter designation in the Alberta Shorthand Reporters Association.
  • Previous curriculum development or delivery would be an asset.
    Applicants with education credentials earned outside of Canada should have their credentials evaluated by World Education Services or the International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS).
    Remuneration: Will commensurate with education and experience, plus 18.5% in lieu of annual vacation and statutory holidays. (Classification – Instructor).
    Instructor salary grid $34.60 – $60.19 per hour. However, starting salary for new hires averages between $41.91 – $45.56 per hour, based on education and experience with room for negotiations.
    This position is covered by the NAIT Academic Staff Association (NASA) Collective Agreement

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct classroom/lab instruction while utilizing appropriate instructional strategies to maximize student motivation and learning in a skill-building environment.
  • Assist in designing, developing, selecting and revising course curriculum and materials on a continuous basis, using the Institute prescribed process.
  • Evaluate the learning process: Ensure learning is evaluated in a reliable and timely manner, providing appropriate and timely feedback to students; Submit marks/records promptly.
  • Provide coaching or referral for students who are experiencing difficulties in order to maximize retention and student success.
  • Use the institute-approved process to regularly solicit feedback on instruction from students and use the results to improve instructional delivery.
  • In accordance with a designated framework, utilize appropriate educational technology for communications, presentations, and program promotion.
  • Other duties as assigned.
