QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma
- Completion of Journeyperson ticket or provincial equivalent including Inter-Provincial Red Seal required
- Minimum 5 years recent industry experience after completion of Journeyperson ticket
- Teaching experience an asset
Applicants with education credentials earned outside of Canada should have their credentials evaluated by World Education Services or the International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS).
Remuneration: Will commensurate with education and experience, plus 18.5% in lieu of stat. holiday pay and vacation pay.
Instructor salary grid $34.48 - $59.98 per hour. However, starting salary for new hires averages between $41.77 - $45.41 per hour normally based on education and experience with room for negotiations. (Classification – Instructor).
This position is covered by the NAIT Academic Staff Association (NASA) Collective Agreement
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and present learning outcomes and activities in an online, in person classroom, industry or hybrid setting.
- Participate in the curriculum development, development related to online training, program reviews and course reviews.
- Facilitate the learning process by utilizing instructional strategies that ensure efficient and effective delivery of course materials.
- Manage instructional delivery and set the tone and climate for a safe and effective learning environment.
- Create assessment tools to evaluate the learning process and maintain progress records.
- Provide early and on-going coaching and tutoring for students to maximize student success and retention.
- Respond to student issues.
- Utilize appropriate educational technology for presentations, communications and program promotions.
- Maintenance and/or submission of program/student records accurately and promptly.
- Maintain professional and ethical relationships with students, colleagues, and industry partners.
- Actively participate in the strategies of NAIT’s Strategic Plan and NAIT’s Academic Plan as identified by the institute.
- Utilize regular student feedback to identify and implement instructional improvement.
- Improve the quality of instruction through professional development activities.
- Other duties as assigned.
