The City of Kitchener is excited to welcome candidates for temporary labourer positions in the Roads and Traffic division! Join us if you’re looking for an opportunity to make a difference in our community!
Responsibilities:
- Asphalt-related repairs and maintenance of roads.
- Concrete related repairs and maintenance of sidewalks, curbs, catch basins, and manholes.
- Maintaining waste receptacles, cleaning up garbage and debris from streets, sidewalks and alleys in the Downtown core, as well as on City & Regional roadways, city-owned property, bush & dense bush areas and parkland.
- Winter work includes snow plowing and salting.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Minimum Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.
- Valid MTO DZ class driver’s license in good standing and ability to provide Drivers Abstract at your own expense as a condition of employment.
- Good communication skills with an ability to keep accurate written records.
- Able to perform a wide variety of duties including manual labour and be prepared to be trained in the operation of all related equipment and work skills.
- Must have good customer service skills.
- Ability to participate as an effective team member.
- Flexible to work varying shifts, rotational duties, weekends and overtime as required.
- Reliable with a good attitude and employment record.
