POSITION SUMMARY:

The Motorcycle Injury Prevention (MIP) team at the University of South Florida’s Center for Urban Transportation Research (CUTR) is looking for a part-time WordPress Developer. Our team is known for its cutting-edge research related to behavioral traffic safety, and we often use various online media outlets to develop and implement different campaigns. Currently, we provide technical support for various statewide traffic safety programs, including those focused on motorcycle safety, scooter safety, and impaired driving prevention. We’re seeking a skilled WordPress developer to create and maintain custom WordPress websites and applications. The ideal candidate will have expertise in both front-end and back-end development.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

This position requires a Bachelor’s in a related field with two years of related experience, or six years of related experience, or a combination of related education and work experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with React, Vue.js, or other JavaScript frameworks
  • Familiarity with WooCommerce or other e-commerce platforms
  • Knowledge of REST API development
  • Experience with build tools and task runners (e.g., Webpack, Gulp)

Responsibilities:

  • Develop custom WordPress themes and plugins
  • Implement responsive designs using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • Optimize website performance and security
  • Integrate third-party APIs and services
  • Manage databases and server-side logic
  • Collaborate with designers and other team members
  • Troubleshoot and debug issues
  • Stay updated on WordPress best practices and emerging technologies
    Average Number of Hours per Week: 10 - 20 hrs.
    Schedule: Schedule varies and will include some nights and weekends. Somewhat flexible within business hours of 8am – 5pm.
