What you’ll be doing
Responsibilities:
ROLE PURPOSE:
- Provide technical support and services to site teams and the Work Winning Team.
- Contribute to Permanent Works with a focus on Temporary Works methodology and sequencing.
- Support Site Teams in resolving technical challenges and legacy issues on permanent works.
- Assist other BB Regional Businesses as required.
- Act as the Designated Individual (DI) responsible for establishing and implementing temporary works control procedures.
- Support / assistance to other Balfour Beatty Regional Businesses such as MEP, Power, BB Rail, BB Living Places and Major Projects as required.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage and ensure compliance with Balfour Beatty Temporary Works Procedures through regular internal and external audits.
- Assess and validate the competence of Temporary Works Coordinators (TWC), Alternate Temporary Works Coordinators (ATWC), and Temporary Works Supervisors (TWS).
- Oversee the competency checks for Temporary Works Designers (TWD) and Checkers (TWDC).
- Investigate and develop alternative designs for temporary works in collaboration with site and tender teams.
- Report on the progress and status of temporary works designs.
- Ensure the consideration and communication of design risks through appropriate documentation.
- Manage external consulting engineers for independent design checks.
- Provide technical support in value engineering and identifying innovative solutions for temporary works.
- Review and challenge permanent works designs to ensure integration with temporary works requirements.
- Lead or support temporary works assurance through audits and meetings with project teams.
- Focus on Zero Harm and contribute to sustainability initiatives.
