Description:

PURPOSE: Reporting to the Tenant Advisor, the purpose and responsibilities of the Tenant Coordinator is to provide a full range of housing and property management services and administrative support to facilitate the requirements of the department. These are full-time, 1 year- term positions that work primarily in office with moderate local travel as required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: (PLEASE ATTACH ALL REQUIRED DOCUMENTS)

  • Grade 12 graduation required
  • Asset Management or Property Management training/certification preferred
  • Understanding of house envelopes, maintenance scheduling, and preventative maintenance is preferred
  • Minimum 3 years’ property management or asset management experience is an asset
  • Experience working in a First Nations community is essential
  • Criminal Record Check (CRC) required
  • Valid BC Driver’s License and reliable vehicle required

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of Cowichan Tribes internal departments and programs an asset
  • Knowledge of Indigenous Housing funding agents, such as Canadian Housing & Mortgage Corporation (CHMC) and Indian Services Canada (ISC)
  • Knowledge and understanding of Cowichan Tribes culture, land, traditions and the Hul’q’umi’num’ language or a willingness to learn
  • Knowledge of internal databases an asset, such as AIS and TIFIS
  • Well-developed written, oral, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Time management with the ability to multitask different tasks simultaneously
