The Université Laval Music Faculty is seeking to recruit a classical performance candidate specialized in Early music to address key teaching needs in instrumental instruction at the undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral levels, as well as teaching ensemble music, theoretical courses, seminars, and supervising doctoral students (D. Mus. with dissertation). In addition to teaching and activities related to knowledge development, artistic performance and creation, this position will also support the Faculty’s needs in student recruitment activities, outreach, and collegial governance at the Faculty and University levels.
The position is intended for the rank of Assistant Professor.
Teaching instrumental performance at the undergraduate, master’s and doctoral levels;
Teaching chamber music;
Directing, teaching, and leading the baroque music ensemble;
Teaching theoretical courses in classical theory and analysis at the bachelor’s level;
Teaching seminars at the master’s and doctoral levels;
Supervising doctoral students (D. Mus. with dissertation);
Performing high-level public artistic performances and engaging in knowledge development;
Securing external funding for artistic performance and knowledge development projects;
Participating in pedagogical development and academic management activities within the Faculty, including creating and revising courses and training programs, developing innovative teaching approaches, and managing programs;
Contributing to student recruitment activities at all three study levels;
Engaging in collegial governance activities within the Faculty and the University;
Participating in external activities of an academic and artistic nature that enhance the reputation of the Faculty and the University;
Developing connections with professional and academic communities. Selection criterias
Completed Doctoral Degree in Music Performance specializing in Early music;
Recognized artistic achievements in the field at the national and/or international level;
Proven experience in ensemble music;
Established presence in the artistic community and ability to develop collaborations with professional and academic circles,
Excellent skills in instrumental and theoretical teaching, demonstrated through teaching experience at the cégep and university levels;
Ability to carry out knowledge development projects in music;
Capacity and interest in working within a multidisciplinary team;
Ability to supervise students and write in English. Conditions
Full-time regular position.
Compensation in accordance with the current collective agreement at Université Laval. Candidature
