Description:

COMPETENCIES AND JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Knowledge of the mountain: terrain, lifts, potential hazards, avalanche routes, personalities.
  • Knowledge of Terrain Park features and how to build them.
  • Knowledge of Terrain Park General Industry Accepted Practices
  • Good leadership, customer service, communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to make quick good decisions, react to crisis, stay calm under pressure.
  • Ability to respond to inquiries from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Ability to effectively present information to management.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical journals and legal documents.
  • Working knowledge of computers including MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access) and Google Sketch Up
  • Should be an advanced snowboarder or skier.
  • Able to evaluate rapidly changing conditions and impacts to operation.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, talk, see, hear, and ski. Must be capable of walking or standing 90% or more of a normal 8 hour work shift. Must be capable of frequently carrying, lifting. pushing or pulling up to 80lbs, occasionally up to 75lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perceptions and the ability to adjust focus.

EXPERIENCE/ EDUCATION

Required:

  • Minimum of 2 years experience in Terrain Park.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in supervisory position or equivalent experience.
  • High School Diploma or GED

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for overall direction and performance of Terrain Park department including daily feature builds, events, and snow planning.
  • Responsible for all Terrain Park Grooming and Park Staff operations.
  • Responsible for overall Terrain Park coordination, communication and product performance enterprise wide.
  • Ensures that park features are well maintained and consistent with best practices incorporated into daily operations.
  • Coordinates with supervisory staff to evaluate conditions by skiing/riding in the parks throughout the day and determines courses of action and communicates with appropriate team members.
  • Carries out supervisory duties in accordance with Palisades Tahoe’s policies and applicable laws.
  • Interviews, hires, trains, schedules and appraises performance of approximately 30 employees. Provides leadership and direction that motivates and creates pride among team to perform at their peak.
  • Builds customer relations and ensures our guests are treated courteously, safely and efficiently.
  • Responsible for creating and maintaining labor and equipment budget. Checks and manages payroll for overtime, compliance with labor model.
  • Coordinates day to day activities with all other departments in order to provide safe and smooth mountain operation. Confers with staff to plan special events, deal with weather related problems.
  • Determines work priorities, prepares work schedules, and expedites workflow.
  • Issues written and oral instructions for staff on regular basis.
  • Assigns duties and examines work for safety, quality, and conformance to policies and procedures.
  • Studies and standardizes procedures to improve efficiency of subordinates.
  • Maintains harmony among workers and resolves grievances.
  • Responds to customer and management complaints.
  • Performs or assists subordinates in performing duties
