JOB SUMMARY

Assists researchers in planning, maintaining or completing research programs and/or projects involved in the discovery of new knowledge, techniques, and concepts which require fundamental scientific/research knowledge, skills and abilities following relevant policies, procedures, regulations and laws. The individual in this position will be responsible for performing mouse colony management and mouse genotyping on various transgenic strains. Option to transition to full-time position.

Bachelors degree in biomedical sciences or related field

Responsibilities:

  • Performs mouse colony management
  • Performs mouse genotyping on various transgenic strains
  • Harvests mouse brain tissue and perform histological processing and analysis
  • Record and analyze data from behavioral experiments with mice, such as analyzing sleep/wake states based on EEG data
  • Assists with running behavioral experiments with mice, such as the Morris Water maze or Object Recognition test
  • Maintains lab routines and ordering supplies
  • Prepares data and graphs for presentation
  • Assists in the development of research proposals, plans and protocols
  • Conducts routine or fundamental experiments, investigations and/or studies related to programs and projects in pursuit of new knowledge, techniques and concepts
  • May instruct students and/or supervise others’ research in area of expertise
