Description:

ABOUT US:

Kite Magnetics, founded in 2022 and headquartered in Melbourne, Australia, is an advanced materials engineering and manufacturing company. Our innovative and patented technology, Aeroperm®, a nanocrystalline magnetic material developed at Monash University, delivers unparalleled efficiency in electric motors and generators. Designed for weight-sensitive and energy-intensive applications, Aeroperm® significantly reduces the total cost of ownership while enhancing system performance. As industry leaders, we are committed to transforming global energy efficiency through cutting-edge materials science.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

As a Manufacturing Technician at Kite Magnetics, you will play a key role in hands-on production, testing, and quality assurance of our advanced Aeroperm® materials and stator core technology. This role is well-suited for individuals with practical experience in operating machinery, conducting technical tests, and maintaining equipment. You will work with production operators and technical staff to ensure quality and efficiency in manufacturing processes.

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:

  • A Certificate III or IV in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related technical field (TAFE qualification) is preferred but not required.
  • This role is ideal for those with experience in machine operation, quality testing, or assembly work in a production or lab environment.
  • This role does not require an engineering degree or formal engineering experience.

Experience:

  • 3-5 years of experience in a technical role (e.g., production, manufacturing, or testing).
  • Previous experience as a manufacturing technician, production operator, test technician, or machine operator is highly desirable.
  • This is not a design or engineering role. It focuses on practical technical tasks.

Personal Attributes:

  • Eager to learn and develop new technical skills in a collaborative environment.
  • Practical problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to tasks.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.

This role is best suited for hands-on technicians, machine operators, and production staff who enjoy practical, technical work. While we appreciate the skills that engineering graduates bring, this position focuses on hands-on tasks rather than engineering design or development.

Responsibilities:

  1. Instrument and Equipment Operation:
  • Learn to operate and maintain precision instruments and equipment for testing and production.
  • Conduct accurate measurements, collect data, and ensure documentation is detailed and precise.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues with equipment to minimise downtime.
  1. Prototype Production and Process Support:
  • Perform repetitive sample production tasks, adhering to strict quality standards.
  • Operate prototype production equipment to support product development and testing.
  • Support the scaling of production processes by providing feedback and assisting with process optimisation.
  1. Collaboration and Learning:
  • Work closely with engineers to implement technical solutions and support ongoing projects.
  • Actively participate in on-the-job training to enhance technical skills and industry knowledge.
  • Assist in the assembly, modification, and maintenance of production and testing equipment.
  1. Documentation and Quality Assurance:
  • Maintain detailed records of production tasks, testing results, and equipment performance.
  • Assist with documentation of procedures, manuals, and protocols to ensure consistency in operations.
  • Perform basic quality assurance checks to verify compliance with project requirements.
  1. Safety and Compliance:
  • Adhere to workplace health and safety protocols and ensure all equipment is operated in compliance with regulations.
  • Maintain a safe and organised work environment by following established safety procedures.
