ESSENTIAL SKILLS:

You will:

  • Experience in testing web pages and software components.
  • Proficiency in test methodologies, including regression testing and exploratory testing.
  • Basic coding skills in JavaScript/HTML/CSS
  • Familiarity with browser differences and how they render content.
  • Competence in using browser developer tools, especially the console and network tabs
  • Experience with intercepting and tampering with HTTP requests using tools like Charles Proxy
  • Experience with issue tracking systems like Jira
  • TestRail, Qase test management (or similar)
  • Critical thinking: to value the ability to question and to improve the current working methods, tools, and processes.

DESIRABLE SKILLS:

  • Experience with accessibility testing, especially within media players
  • Knowledge of media streaming protocols such as DASH and HLS
  • MAC, Windows, Android, iOS (testing on all operating systems)
  • Browser Dev Tools (Console & Network Tab)
  • Command Line/Shell (Terminal & Browser)
  • Understanding of HTML/JavaScript (not necessarily writing it)
  • Experience with Kanban and Agile methodologies
  • Experience with cloud-based testing platforms like SauceLabs or Browser Stack.
  • Strong prioritisation skills to make the best use of limited time
  • Capability to simplify problems and explain complex concepts clearly
  • Thorough and methodical in testing approaches

EXPERIENCE

  • A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field or similar work based experience.
  • Proven experience as a Senior Software Engineer ideally with a focus on media-related projects.
  • Very good working knowledge of standard software development frameworks, techniques and methodologies.
  • Experience with providing coaching and mentoring
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team, contributing to the development of business scenarios.
  • Knowledge of software development tools and technologies.
  • You are flexible and curious in your approach
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities:

ROLE OVERVIEW

We are looking for a Test Engineer to join our team for the Web Playback project. This role involves performing both scripted and unscripted manual testing on the Standard Media Player (SMP), which is the foundation for the services provided. This position is intended to cover for a permanent tester who is currently focused on implementing test automation.
The successful candidate will be a goal orientated and proactive Test Engineer with a keen eye for quality and a strong ability to perform both scripted and unscripted testing. The individual will be responsible for testing individual stories, complete features and conducting comprehensive release regression testing.
We value a collaborative approach, so excellent communication skills are a must. The ability to articulate technical concepts effectively within a multidisciplinary team will be crucial for the success in this role.
