The COMET contract provides overall management and implementation of ground systems capabilities, flight hardware processing, and launch operations at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida. These tasks will support the International Space Station, Ground Systems Development and Operations, and the Space Launch System, Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle, and Launch Services programs.
The Spaceflight Processing, Test Integration Department is looking for highly qualified Engineering candidates to join the SLS/Orion Test Project Engineering (TPE) team. Applicants must meet the basic qualifications and eligibility requirements, as defined below. The candidate will be a member of the Test Integration Department functioning as a Test Project Engineer.
BACHELOR OF SCIENCE (BS) IN ENGINEERING OR TECHNICAL EQUIVALENT FROM AN ACCREDITED INSTITUTION. CANDIDATE MUST POSSESS AT LEAST FOUR (4) YEARS OF EXPERIENCE.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Excellent communication, presentation, and customer interface skills required with a proven ability to work effectively and cooperatively in a team environment.
- Candidates should have academic and/or work experience in multiple engineering disciplines; mechanical, electrical, RF, controls, fluid, and software systems.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Capable of reading/understanding technical manuals, drawings, and schematics.
- Must be a Leader with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects with minimal supervision.
- Experience with Microsoft Office products.
- May require working off shift and weekends.
- If offered a position, proof of U.S. Citizenship or Legal Permanent Resident/Green Card holder of the United States is required.
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, if necessary.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Will be required to climb stairs to access equipment for trouble shooting.
- Will be required to wear hearing protection, eye protection, and other associated personal protective equipment.
- Position may involve extended periods of sitting or standing.
- Physical requirements are sitting, walking, standing, extensive use of stairs, and access to remote structures.
- Position is located on a hazardous testing facility; must be able to quickly evacuate buildings in the event of an emergency.
Responsibilities:
RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Primary function is to support the Launch Control Center firing room console operations; integrating tests of ground support equipment, spaceflight hardware, and Launch of the SLS rocket.
- Serve as the technical advisor to the Test Management Team and provide real-time technical integration in support of all anomalies/non-conformances for all firing room managed activities.
- Real-time technical integration between console/engineering disciplines, elements/programs, and other stakeholders across multiple NASA programs.
- Support Exploration Ground Systems and Cross Program planning, test plan development, and support the path to testing assessment while identifying dependencies.
- Responsible for authoring and executing work plans for Integrated Test and Check Out.
- Lead the development of operational test requirements and launch commit criteria for the SLS/ORION/EGS programs.
- Serve as a technical specialist and acts as a contributing member of management teams for policy formulation.
- Performs random quality and continuous improvement assessments on work plans to ensure procedures are being followed and work is completed correctly.
- Perform and take on new projects as assigned.
OTHER ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Must be able to accurately communicate ideas in writing and verbal communication.
- Must be able to travel to support position requirements. This may include travel to and from customer location, which may involve airline travel. In some cases, accommodations can be made for POV, if necessary.
- Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.
- Must comply with all “drug free workplace” requirements as mandated by directives issued by the appropriate federal contracting officer and the company, which requires drug testing for use of illegal drugs by employees in sensitive positions.
- Government security clearance may be required in the future.
- Must maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that fosters good relations with customers, clients, co-workers, and management.
