Description:

TEST & QUALIFICATION ENGINEER

Location: Plymouth - Min three days on site
A vacancy has arisen for a Test & Qualification Engineer to work within the Engineering team providing support to the Test & Qualification team.
This role is focused on supporting the development projects during the development phase where the products are passed through their formal qualification and approval phase prior to the entry into production.
This role can be located at the main site in Plymouth or the office in Bristol, all internal testing is conducted at the Plymouth site.

KEY SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Applicants must have a minimum of a 2.1 Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering or a similar discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience working in an Engineering role on sensor related product design and development to military, aerospace and commercial standards
  • Proficiency in MS Office tools, with good knowledge of Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Good organisation and communication skills
  • Capacity to manage several tasks or requests simultaneously
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a large team
  • Ability to work independently and prioritise workload

  • Ability to analyse and interpret data from various sources
  • Competent in technical report writing and presentations
  • A team player and effective communicator
  • Able to interact at all technical levels with technical teams and/or project leaders
  • In depth technical knowledge of inertial measurement units (IMU)
  • Experience of the product introduction lifecycle (concept definition to product launch)
  • Problem solving (Root Cause Analysis)
  • Mathematical modelling tools (e.g. Matlab, Minitab)

Responsibilities:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assessing impact of changes/deviations on products to define the required qualification activities
  • Ensure projects delivered to schedule, cost & quality
  • Providing inputs to planning, estimation and project management activities
  • Support to Bids and Proposals: resourcing and technical compliance
  • Technical support for internal/external customer focused presentations, teleconferences and meetings
  • Liaise with Production and test houses (internal/external) to book test slots
  • Liaise with logistics to arrange for kit to be delivered an collected at external test facilities to support offsite testing
  • Carry out product qualification testing (internal/external)
  • Understanding customer requirements, generation of qualification test plans, reports and compliance tracking
  • The role may include travel to UK and foreign customer sites to support technical meetings, trials and qualification testing.
