Your role at St John of God Mt Lawley Hospital
St John of God Mt Lawley Hospital is a boutique facility located on the banks of the iconic Swan River. The hospital was established in 1932 and has a strong tradition of providing surgical services and specialised medical and mental health care. It is the largest non-government provider of rehabilitation services in Western Australia, offering both private and publicly funded services and supported by a comprehensive multidisciplinary team.
You will be responsible for supporting the Perioperative Services Team with a range of data analysis, co-ordinating and reporting tasks to ensure the capture of revenue associated with Prosthesis use and Commonwealth Medical Benefit Scheme (CMBS) item numbers is maximised. You will also be responsible for ensuring the smooth running of the Operating Theatre suite through the effective management of clinical resources including equipment, consumables and supplies.

The Position

  • Gather, interpret/analyse and report on cost and usage data for Perioperative prosthesis activity and expenditure.
  • Responsible for ensuring that the Mt Lawley Theatre Inventory Management System (TIMS) is maintained and updated; old data is removed, new items are added and the accuracy of unit of issue, pricing and health fund rebate information is ensured.
  • Performs Daily Audits of TIMS usage to identify abnormal usage of chargeable items.
  • Identifies credit opportunities.
  • Analyses data for patterns of usage resulting in lost revenue.
  • Reviews data relating to recording of prosthesis and reports on wastage for auctioning.
  • Completes daily audits for lost prosthesis revenue second to anatomical issues.
  • Provides a monthly report to funding as per HBF contracts.
  • Coordinates ex Gratia approval process for Mt Lawley hospital.
  • Contributes to the planning, problem solving and change management within the department as required.
  • All other reasonable duties as directed by Manager/Supervisor.

You will have substantial experience in the perioperative health care industry with a demonstrated knowledge of health fund contract processes, medical products, capital procurement and resource management processes. You will also have knowledge and experience in essential IT platforms to support requirements of the role including Microsoft platforms, webPAS Business Objects, Oracle Financials and TIMS (Theatre Inventory Management System). Demonstrated analytical abilities to methodically test reporting processes under development / system software changes & upgrades is essential.
To succeed you will have well developed organisation skills and a high level of communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to work effectively within the multi-disciplinary team environment. You will have an understanding of and ability to apply occupational health and safety principles to ensure safety of all within the workplace. Basic accountant knowledge would be desirable.

  • Salary: $98,060 to $101,630 per annum, plus 11.5% superannuation
