Description:

A rare opportunity has arisen to join the Theatre scheduling team. This team sits within the Theatres, Anaesthesia, Pain and Pre-assessment Directorate. The post holder requires excellent planning and organisational skills and a flexible approach to coordinate and maintain the theatre schedules.

YOU WILL HAVE:

To manage a scheduling centre for theatres to facilitate the booking and co-ordination of Theatre Schedules.
To co-ordinate and plan theatre sessions, ensuring that theatre sessions are booked to maximum capacity taking into account staffing, equipment and time conflicts thus supporting the Division to provide safe surgical services and achieve performance targets.
To co-ordinate and communicate with the waiting list office, bed managers, ward clerks, ward managers, arrival lounge, radiology, clinical coding, IT department, finance as well as consultant and medical teams, anaesthetists, nurses, coordinators, practitioners and managers of all levels. To provide seamless and effective patient care. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required. To provide effective administrative support to the departmental management team.
To be responsible for data quality and completeness of data stored on the theatre information systems – reporting aware, quality concerns and process constraints to the business Manager.
To support the business manager and the theatre management team in ensuring there is a maximum utilisation of theatre capacity taking in account all staffing, equipment and time conflicts, thus supporting the Division to provide surgical services and achieve the waiting targets.
To liaise and communicate with admission team, bed managers, ward staff and all members of the multi-disciplinary team to ensure effective and efficient patients care
To collate and maintain a system to monitor theatre schedule allowing the rescheduling and re-deployment of theatre sessions in accordance to 6:4:2 rule.
To develop the concept of a scheduling centre for theatres to support pre-booking, patient choice and maximisation of capacity for both main theatres and the day stay unit.
To maintain and implement an operational manual and policies for theatre scheduling 10 day lock down.
To lead the review of Theatre Schedulers at the weekly Theatres Planning meeting and action changes as required.
To publish and distribute the theatre lists to all members of the multi-disciplinary team.
To demonstrate politeness, courtesy and sensitivity in dealing with patients/clients, visitors/relative and colleagues, maintaining good customer relations.
