HMP Dovegate is a category B male establishment prison based on the Staffordshire/Derbyshire border near Uttoxeter Here at Serco we have a vacancy for a Team Lead to join our Therapeutic Community Team. The operational capacity of the Therapeutic Community is 200. Joining our onsite team at this category B prison, you’ll play a key role in making a difference to the lives of our residents.
We are looking for a Team Lead to join our multi-disciplinary team on one of the 40 bed Communities.
The Role involves line managing a team of clinical staff, and leading and directing the Community to ensure it is operating in line with the TC principles and Audit requirements. You will also have clinical management of the operational staff, supporting them to partake in the therapeutic community practises and to facilitate groups. Working closely with operational management colleagues, you will ensure the safety and integrity of the Community is always maintained. You will lead the team to undertake all required reports and administrative functions of the Community and will ensure the team and Residents are prepared for the bi-annual Audit.
In addition to management duties, you will facilitate therapy groups and support the Residents in your group with all aspects of their rehabilitation. You will ensure clinical decisions made by the team are assessed by the TC Clinical Directorate, prior to confirming them with the Community Members.

Responsibilities:

This is an opportunity for an individual who has skills with the therapeutic treatment paradigm, managerial experience, and a good understanding of working in a prison setting. Alternatively, someone with experience in education/teaching and/or the voluntary sector would be a good fit for this Role. Accredited clinical training is not required for this Role, but some training in counselling/psychotherapy/psychology/social work is required, with some level of formal qualification/training as necessity.
The post holder will need to be able to work with a multi-disciplinary team and be able to make good use of supervision and line management. They must be able to work jointly and collaboratively with other team members both operational and non-operational to enhance and develop the work with the members. Another important aspect of the role is to maintain records and communicate effectively verbally and in writing especially with referrers via written reports. As part of this role they will undertake regular appraisal, developing a personal development plan. They will keep up to date with the strategies for the management of complex needs including personality disorder pathway. Additionally, they will attend team referral meetings, movement meetings, business meetings and service development meetings.
The role requires someone who has an interest in working to support vulnerable people to overcome adversity. The ideal candidate will have the capacity to meet and contain content of a highly emotive nature and will continually work to ensure they have the internal capabilities to process and respond effectively to the projections from the men and the staff team.
