Description:

THERMAL ENGINEER

Aversan Inc. (www.aversan.com) is a trusted multi-service engineering and electronics manufacturing company. Aversan delivers leading-edge and reliable safety-critical electronics and software systems to the aerospace, defence, and space industries.
We seek a qualified Thermal Engineer. The successful candidate will function as a technical specialist or in a lead role, applying advanced engineering techniques and analyses for problems and methods with minimal supervision.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering (or equivalent).
  • At least 10 years of experience in thermal analysis and creating thermal mathematical models (TMM), preferably using Nx/Space Systems Thermal or TMG.
  • Knowledge of thermal issues and solutions for electronic equipment.
  • Proven experience delivering thermal concepts for satellites or space subsystems.
  • Familiarity with space environments; experience in the space industry is a strong asset.
  • Ability to prioritize critical concept issues and collaborate across disciplines.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines.
  • Proficiency in English and French (written and spoken preferred).

Responsibilities:

  • Select suitable thermal protections, active/passive thermal control equipment, surface finishes, and interfaces.
  • Perform detailed modeling and simulations.
  • Predict temperature distributions and thermal loads in materials/equipment during various lifecycle stages: launch, orbital transition, and on-orbit operations.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate thermal systems into satellite designs.
  • Recommend optimal mechanical designs based on thermal evaluations and space material characteristics.
  • Plan and execute thermal environmental tests to qualify new thermal concepts or validate equipment designs.
  • Ensure hardware safety and functionality in required thermal environments.
  • Prepare technical reports and presentations for design reviews and client interactions.
  • Mentor junior thermal analysts as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, best practices, and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee and review thermal aspects of subcontracted systems.
