Maya HTT is looking for a Thermal Flow Simulation Applications Engineer (AE). Computer-based Thermal/Flow tools at Maya include Simcenter 3D Thermal/Flow, ESC, and SST along with Femap, Star-CCM+ and FloEFD. The successful applicant will work closely with customers to understand their engineering needs, provide technical proposals, and carry out thermal/flow simulation services. The candidate will also be responsible for providing excellent engineering support to Maya customers and staff to ensure their technical success in supporting and using the Simcenter 3D CAE products. Ability to work with Canadian Controlled Goods materials is mandatory.
What to expect as the main responsibilities:
- Carry out general thermal/flow, electronics systems cooling, and space systems thermal control simulation services for customers
- Meet with new customers to identify their engineering simulation services needs in the areas of general thermal/flow, electronics systems cooling, and space systems thermal control; draft services proposals addressing those needs
- Provide training on introductory and advanced topics in Simcenter 3D
- Collaborate with Maya staff to provide technical support for Simcenter 3D CAE software customers
- Troubleshoot user models and recommend best practices and modeling guidelines to improve customer satisfaction and productivity
- Perform benchmark simulations and test cases to explore new methods, define best practices and verify results
- Consistently improve our understanding of customer workflows and provide feedback to the product and development teams
You will be successful in this role if you have:
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering; Master’s degree or higher considered an asset
- Two or more years of performing CAE simulations in a commercial/business setting
- Solid understanding of theoretical heat transfer and fluid mechanics
- Familiarity with common numerical methods employed in scientific computing for physical simulations
- Broad-based knowledge of the methods and practices in thermal/flow simulations
- Hands-on experience with workflows and tasks associated with practical use of engineering simulation tools
- Experience using CAE simulation tools, preferably Simcenter 3D Thermal/Flow, ESC, and SST
- A background using CAD tools, with NX experience a plus
- Star-CCM+, Femap, and FloEFD skills are a plus
- Excellent problem-solving abilities
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Written and Oral English and French. (The position requires regular interaction with colleagues, suppliers and customers based outside of Quebec, nationally and internationally).
- Display initiative and ability to work independently as well as with others
- Ability to multitask, juggling multiple activities and setting priorities
- Willingness to occasionally travel
