JOB DESCRIPTION

Partners with their assigned Line of Business, other Risk/Compliance/Audit (RCA) professionals, and RCA Managers to, depending on their function, create, implement, maintain, review or oversee an effective risk management framework. Participates in projects and/or activities that ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations. Identifies gaps and inform solutions that minimize losses resulting from inadequate internal processes, systems or human errors. Identifies, responds and/or escalates risks as appropriate. Serves as a functional liaison between the Line of Business and the Lines of Defense.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent work experience
  • Typically more than five years of applicable experience

PREFERRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

  • Advanced knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, financial services, and regulatory trends that impact their assigned line of business
  • Advanced understanding of the business line’s operations, products/services, systems, and associated risks/controls
  • Thorough knowledge of Risk/Compliance/Audit competencies
  • Strong analytical, process facilitation and project management skills
  • Effective presentation, interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient computer navigation skills using a variety of software packages, including Microsoft Office applications and word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and presentations
  • Applicable professional certifications

ADDITIONAL JOB DESCRIPTION

Risk Review Management (RRM), a centralized second line of defense team within U.S. Bank’s Corporate Compliance Division, plays a critical role in managing the company’s risks. The RRM team are the subject matter experts and support for core risk assessment processes Corporate Compliance owns and/or supports.
Business Lines within U.S. Bank engage third party vendors to help achieve efficiency, provide expertise on specific needs, or meet strategic objectives as part of normal course of business. The main focus for the Risk Assessment Specialist in RRM is to oversee and provide guidance to first line of defense risk partners in assuring the third-party vendors that are engaged by U.S. Bank Business Lines have the appropriate policies, procedures and controls to mitigate applicable risks, assessing the risks in alignment with regulator guidance and expectations. The Risk Assessment Specialist credibly challenges the Business Line risk assessments that evaluate the identification of risks, Business Line ongoing management, and the level of risk presented in the engagement. In addition, the RRM team partners with program owners and other stakeholders to identify and implement process efficiencies, operationalize process enhancements and maintain program documentation such as procedures, workpapers, KPI/KRI reporting and stakeholder resources.
The Risk Assessment Specialist also supports the execution of the Company’s process on business change management on behalf of Corporate Compliance, representing the interests of the broader team as a key stakeholder and program liaison.
