Our Red Chris operation is now recruiting for the position of TIA - Engineer in Training with a competitive base salary between $87,875.00 – $95,000.00 dependant on experience, skills, and qualifications. The offered base salary will be determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills and competencies with consideration to internal equity.
We are seeking an individual for a Fly In, Fly Out opportunity working on a two weeks in, two weeks out rotation.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Promote and participate in a safe work culture in accordance with Newcrest policies and values.
- Create and verify designs utilizing 3D modelling software and GIS software.
- Develop construction execution plans.
- Track and report material quantities, manage construction data.
- Support construction quality control activities: monitor placement, take samples, conduct density tests.
- Support TIA Engineers with technical analysis, preparing work scopes, cost estimates, planning, and other tasks as required.
- Develop traffic management plans
- Provide technical support for cyclone sand production related projects
- Provide technical support to the construction operations team
- Assist and support consultants and contractors
EXPERIENCE - ESSENTIAL:
- Civil, Mining, Geological or Geotechnical Engineering Degree
- Registered or be eligible to register with Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia (EGBC).
- 1-3 years of mining, heavy earthworks, or civil design experience. New graduates with appropriate co-op experience should apply.
- Proficient in MS Office tools (Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
EXPERIENCE – DESIRABLE:
- Exposure to civil earthworks projects, preferably tailings dam design or tailings dam construction.
- Exposure to mining and construction related 3D modelling software such as Minesight, AutoCAD/Civil3D, and Trimble Business Centre
- Construction survey and/or quality control experience.
Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Tailings Construction Project Engineer, the Tailings Construction Engineer-in-Training (EIT) is responsible for providing technical support for the Tailings Construction department. The Tailings Construction EIT will work on projects related to 3D design, constructability, quality control, and survey control of heavy civil earthworks projects in the tailings area. The candidate will also be exposed to tasks involving cost management, scheduling, mid-range planning, and contract administration to develop their skills and career as a construction professional.
Construction projects in the tailings area include annual dam raises (~1.5 million cubic meters per year), mine haul road construction, borrow area development, diversion ditch construction, as well as drill and blast scopes. Work is completed in close collaboration with local business partners.
