SUMMARY

A Tile Mason is responsible for the precise installation of tiles on floors, walls, ceilings, or other surfaces. This includes cutting, laying, leveling, and grouting tiles according to design specifications. The Tile Mason ensures high-quality workmanship and compliance with safety standards.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

• Education & Experience:
• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
• Previous experience as a Tile Mason, Tile Setter, or similar role.
• Proficiency in different tiling methods and materials (e.g., ceramic, porcelain, marble, mosaics).
• Skills:
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, layouts, and design plans.
• Proficient with measuring and cutting tools, leveling instruments, and tile saws.
• Good physical stamina, including the ability to stand, kneel, and lift heavy materials for extended periods.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Basic math skills (for measurements and calculations).
• Certifications:
• Optional: Certifications in construction or tiling techniques (varies by region).

1. Surface Preparation

• Inspect and assess work areas to determine required preparations.
• Clean and level surfaces, remove debris, and repair uneven or damaged areas.

1. Tile Installation

• Measure, mark, and cut tiles to fit edges and corners accurately.
• Mix and apply adhesives (e.g., mortar or glue) using the correct techniques.
• Lay tiles following specific designs, patterns, or layouts as required by the project.
• Use leveling tools to ensure tiles are flat and aligned properly.
• Install grout, ensuring uniform coverage and consistent joints.

1. Maintenance & Repairs

• Conduct touch-ups, replacements, and repairs of broken or damaged tiles.
• Maintain a clean work environment by removing excess grout, adhesives, and other construction materials.

1. Safety & Compliance

• Follow all company and site-specific safety procedures, using appropriate protective equipment.
• Comply with local building codes, regulations, and project specifications.
• Report any potential hazards or issues to the project supervisor or site engineer promptly.

1. Quality Control & Finishing

• Inspect completed work to ensure precision and aesthetic standards are met.
• Correct any imperfections or inconsistencies before final inspection.

1. Coordination & Communication

• Collaborate with site supervisors, project managers, and other trades to schedule tasks efficiently.
• Communicate progress updates, material shortages, or any issues that might affect project timelines.
