Description:

TIMBER MACHINISTS

We are seeking a Timber Machinist to join our production team. The role will require you to assist with the production of remanufactured timber products by setting, operating, and maintaining planers, band saws and other machinery.
The primary objective of the role is to guarantee that the output of remanufactured product is achieved safely and in accordance with product specifications. This is achieved through efficient cutting, gauging, and shaping of timber.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate planer and feed works to process kiln dried timber using technology devices
  • Be able to read drawings/cutting lists
  • Grind and set up planer heads
  • Monitor the performance of general timber hands

We are looking for candidates who:

  • Relevant experience or gained a relevant qualification, minimum Level 3 and 2-years’ experience in the sawmill industry
  • Are resilient, self-motivated with a ‘can do’ attitude
  • Good knowledge of health and safety in the workplace, particularly in the wood processing plant
  • Are physically fit - manual handling will be required and be able to push / pull 25kg, also working in all conditions, standing for long periods
  • Have great communication skills
  • Show great mechanical aptitude
  • Display leadership qualities and the ability to train others
  • Have excellent attention to detail
