Job Description
Administrative Faculty, Non Tenure Track, Benefits Eligible.
Western Nevada College is recruiting for a Title IX Coordinator & Compliance Specialist. This position coordinates and facilitates the institution’s compliance with Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) and Western Nevada College (WNC) policy, as well as local, State, and federal regulations including but not limited to: Title IX, Equal Opportunity, Affirmative Action, Clery, and ADA. Conducts outreach, training, and investigations including personnel investigations, as well as data tracking, analysis, and reporting.
The position is based on WNC’s Carson campus, however some travel is required to the Fallon and Douglas campuses as part of this role.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Serve as the Title IX Coordinator – Including: Title IX training, education, and outreach; receive reports of unlawful discrimination and harassment from employees and students; act as a neutral party throughout the process and ensure equitable treatment of all parties; organize, manage, and track cases/reports; conduct prompt and impartial investigations of complaints; coordinate hearings and decisions; appropriately route challenges and appeals; monitor proposed changes in policies, laws, regulations, and best practices; maintain accurate and thorough case records; maintain knowledge and certifications; and manage the Title IX budget.
Personnel Investigations – Including: Conduct prompt and impartial investigations of alleged violations of the employee code of conduct and penalties and prohibitions; and compose comprehensive investigation reports.
External Agency Complaint Investigation and Response – Including: Investigate complaints made to Nevada Equal Rights Commission (NERC), Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), and other applicable authorities; work with WNC legal counsel to respond on behalf of the institution.
Equal Opportunity (EO) and Affirmative Action (AA) – Including: Timely completion of the annual Affirmative Action Plan; monitor EO and AA efforts and recommend enhancements and initiatives; conduct periodic audits and assess the effectiveness of EO and AA efforts.
ADA, ADA Section 504, Pregnant Worker Fairness Act (PWFA), and Nevada PWFA Compliance – Including: Ensure compliance with ADA and section 504 as well as PWFA and Nevada PWFA; engage in the interactive process to determine reasonable accommodations for employees; work with WNC Disability Support Services on reasonable accommodations for qualified students with known limitations due to pregnancy-related conditions; and manage the employee accommodations budget.
Jeanne Clery Act Compliance – Including: Serve as the WNC Clery Compliance Coordinator; serve as the chair of the WNC Clery Committee; serve as a Campus Security Authority (CSA); work closely with the University Police Department’s Clery Compliance Officer on Clery crime reports and the Annual Security Report (ASR); and identify and oversee training of CSAs.
Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) and SaVE Act Compliance – Including: Manage reporting, statistics, and applicable inclusions in the ASR; ensure prompt and fair application of procedures; provide information on rights, procedures, campus resources, possible sanctions, and protective measures; and ensure applicable education or training is provided to employees and students.
Reporting – Including: Complete the Human Resources section of annual IPEDS reporting; complete annual VETS 4212 reporting; and develop and complete other related reports as directed.
Policy, Procedure, and Website Updates – Including: Annually review applicable institutional policies and procedures and make updates as needed; draft and propose new applicable polices and take them through a shared governance approval process; and periodically update and improve applicable webpages.
Other related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree; AND
  • Three years of related professional experience, reflected on résumé, which includes:
  • Conducting investigations;
  • Ensuring compliance; AND
  • Interpreting and administering complex laws, regulations, and policies

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with educational laws, specifically civil rights in education
  • Experience in student conduct or an office of discrimination and harassment
  • Title IX training or certifications

  • Ability to interpret federal, State and local equal opportunity and nondiscrimination laws and regulations including Title IX, ADA, ADA 504, VAWA, and other applicable laws and regulations that prohibit discrimination, harassment, or retaliation
  • Knowledge of current and emerging legislation, issues, best practices, and trends as appropriate to the position
  • Ability to maintain objectivity, and neutrality
  • Ability to speak with individuals about sensitive and difficult topics, including but not limited to sexual assault experiences
  • Ability to cope with human suffering
  • Ability to demonstrate sensitivity to, and respect for, individuals and their needs

Minimum Starting Salary Information:
This position is at a salary grade C. The minimum of the placement range is $73,531.55. The selected candidate will be placed at or above the minimum based on education and experience. WNC’s placement range falls within the NSHE salary schedule:
