The Tooling Attendant will be responsible and accountable for managing tools, equipment, and materials to support the Machine shop, including carrying out all assigned tasks while following all Tool Control procedures. This position will be responsible for the effective running of the tooling area, distribution to and collection from production staff, organization, and replenishment of inventory.

PROFILE AND REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Mechanical Technologist Diploma or experience as a Machinist or related tooling experience
  • Experience with SAP an asset
  • Must be able read and interpret manufacturing drawings
  • Mechanically inclined
  • Experience in Oil & Gas and Mining machining an asset

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Able to lift to 50lbs
  • Fit to be walking, standing for extended periods of time, bending, lifting, and performing continuous and repetitive movements
  • Own/reliable vehicle
  • Able to work either Days or Nights, including weekends

Responsibilities:

  • At all times, the Tooling Attendant will be responsible for ensuring the Health & Safety of themselves and customers in an environmentally friendly manner
  • Responsible for receiving, unpacking, stocking, and delivering PPE, materials, and equipment.
  • Maintain accurate inventory list - complete weekly inventory of supplies, PPE, and equipment including submitting material requisitions to replenish depleted inventory.
  • Participate in weekly inventory audits
  • Maintain purchase data and provide updates for parts as required
  • Inspect all tools, equipment and materials for any defects and wear - report damage or wear to asset specialist.
  • Responsible for the signing in and out of equipment, tooling, inserts as well as the necessary consumables – including tracking and locating lost and misplaced tools
  • Maintains database of all issued, damaged, worn out and/or missing equipment and materials – ensuring tooling availability and setting proper schedules for release
  • Perform basic maintenance on tooling and simple repairs - handling all tooling in a safe manner
  • Maintain SDS records
  • Liaise with other departments for information to process related paperwork to ensure availability of needed tooling
  • Communicate and bring forth any tooling issues and safety concerns within to Machine shop Supervisor and Manager
  • Communicate suggestions for tooling process improvements and safety improvements within to Machine shop Supervisor and Manager
  • Other duties as assigned such as and not limited to supporting production the department, deburring, polishing, cleaning, etc.
