The Camrose & District Chamber of Commerce is seeking a dynamic, creative, and detail-oriented Tourism and Events Coordinator to join our team. POSITION SUMMARY:
As the Tourism and Events Coordinator, you will be responsible for assisting in planning, promoting, and executing events and tourism-related initiatives that enhance the visibility and engagement of the Chamber. This role requires exceptional organizational skills, a passion for building community connections, and the ability to juggle multiple priorities.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
Education and Experience:
- Post-secondary education in Event Management, Tourism, Marketing, Communications, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum 2 years of experience in event coordination or tourism development.
Skills and Attributes:
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in social media management and marketing platforms.
- Budget management and financial planning experience.
- A creative, resourceful, and self-motivated attitude with a passion for community development.
Other Requirements:
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License.
- Criminal Record Check and clean driving abstract.
- Standard First Aid/CPR certification (asset).
- Bilingualism in English/French (asset).
- Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities:
Event Coordination:
- Help plan, organize, and execute key Chamber events such as the Kickin’ Country Parade, Business Excellence Awards, and more.
- Help develop event timelines, budgets, and promotional strategies in collaboration with committees.
- Help coordinate event logistics, including venue selection, permits, vendor relations, and on-site management.
Tourism Development:
- Promote Camrose as a tourism destination by creating campaigns and developing marketing materials that will benefit all our members in the region.
- Collaborate with member businesses and attractions to develop tourism packages and itineraries.
- Analyze local and regional tourism trends to inform strategies and maximize exposure for members.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of tourism offerings and recommend improvements to ensure inclusivity and relevance.
Community Engagement:
- Act as a liaison between the Chamber, local businesses, and community groups to strengthen partnerships.
- Help recruit, train, and manage volunteers and committee members for events and initiatives.
- Represent the Chamber at tourism-related meetings, trade shows, and events.
Marketing and Communication:
- Create and manage promotional materials, social media content, and email campaigns.
- Maintain the Chamber’s website, ensuring tourism-related content is up-to-date and engaging.
- Oversee and create press releases and participate in media interviews to promote events and membership benefits.
Administrative Duties:
- Assist visitors at the Tourism Centre and promote local businesses and attractions.
- Maintain inventory of promotional materials and merchandise for sale.
- Prepare reports on event performance, tourism statistics, and marketing efforts.
- Support grant applications to fund tourism and event initiatives.
