WHAT QUALIFICATIONS DO YOU BRING?
- Your application will demonstrate knowledge of construction, maintenance and rehabilitation projects carried out at subway & surface track level;
- Your application will also demonstrate knowledge of the work cars, materials, tools, equipment, crews and special safety procedures/equipment associated with subway & surface track level construction activities;
- In-depth knowledge of the engineering principles, methods, practices and techniques associated with surface & subway track construction, maintenance and repair, as well as those of related trades involved in such work;
- Your educational background of a post-secondary or university degree in engineering or related field is integral and will contribute to the success in this role;
- Your application extensive experience in the areas of project coordination and/or engineering management of heavy construction and/or large multi-disciplinary projects;
- A valid Province of Ontario Class ‘G’ driver’s licence is required;
- Ability to analyze hazard risk assessments for track level maintenance and construction;
- Sound knowledge of applicable government legislation (such as, but not limited to, the Occupational Health & safety Act, WHMIS etc.);
- Sound judgement; highly developed management, organizational, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills; excellent analytical and problem solving skills;
- Demonstrated ability to manage and work with multi-discipline teams, deal with complex issues and maintain effective working relationships;
- Good computer skills and knowledge of computer software applications related to scheduling such as STARS, Excel, Word, MOWIS, SMD, Maximo, VISIO, visual basic, etc.;
- Must have or rapidly acquire a comprehensive knowledge of the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders including disability accommodation and accessibility requirements pertaining to passengers and employees.
Responsibilities:
The Track Access Controller (TAC) assists with the safe coordination, planning, and scheduling of all surface and subway track level construction activities for the Operations & Infrastructure (O&I) Group. Working with personnel from Operational Safety & Planning (OSP) and Transit Control, the TAC assists with prioritizing and scheduling the overall execution of work with due consideration for system priorities, revenue service schedules, hazards, workcar/ material/ equipment/ crew availability and safety requirements such as, but not limited to ventilation protocols, power cuts, and site inspections. The work involves reviewing and analyzing preplanned daily/nightly activities, scheduling unplanned emergency works, as well as performing site safety audits of subway and surface construction and maintenance worksites. The TAC finalizes and issues the nightly work schedule that provides safe and balanced access to the subway infrastructure.
