KEY SAFETY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Acting as the professional head for matters relating to maintenance of the infrastructure.
- Provision of suitable and sufficient processes to enable safe working of SWR and contracted staff undertaking permanent way maintenance, including work instructions and Local Isolation Procdeures.
- Conducting audits of infrastructure maintenance activities.
WORKING PATTERN
You will be working an average of 37 hours per week across 5 days per week.
Standard office hours, with a requirement for occasional night/weekend working in line with job description.

Responsibilities:
- To ensure that the maintenance of permanent way at SWR depots, yards and sidings and the Isle of Wight Island Line is compliant to applicable standards.
- To ensure infrastructure maintenance work is conducted in accordance with applicable legislation and company processes, whether conducted by SWR employees or contracted staff.
- To ensure adequate company policies, procedures and other instructions relating to the maintenance of permanent way and other infrastructure elements are in place and manage deviations from these as appropriate.
- To conduct audits of infrastructure maintenance to ensure compliance to applicable legislation, standards and company processes.
- To attend meetings and reviews alongside the professional heads to support company safety management and assurance activities.
- To ensure an adequate process is in place for assessing the competence of SWR permanent way maintenance operatives and contracted workers undertaking infrastucutue maintenance activities.
- To support investigations into incidents involving the infrastructure and maintenance thereof.
- To provide expert advice and guidance on matters relating to track and associated infrastructure areas.
- To conduct liaison between the company and Network Rail on matters relating to the infrastructure and maintenance thereof, and provide a path of escalation as required.
- Other infrastructure oversight activities as required by the business.
