Team Overview
BlackRock’s Global Investment Operations (GIO) is responsible for the post-trade and asset servicing functions that support BlackRock’s investment businesses worldwide. GIO spans trade documentation, transaction management, collateral management, payments, corporate actions, reconciliations and securities lending functions. GIO partners with BlackRock’s Portfolio Managers and Traders globally to provide operational excellence to our partners and clients.
GIO’s Trade Operations team is responsible for the affirmation, confirmation and settlement of transactions with counterparties and custodians.
General functions include trade confirmations, settlement governance, exception resolution and facilitating trading activity with providers. Key focuses include the day to day management of broker/dealer and custody relationships, fostering globally consistent trade confirmation and processing, improving operational control and reporting, eliminating risk and servicing internal and external constituents to re-affirm expectations and deliver outstanding client service.
Trade Operations Oversight & Transformations team is responsible for applying data to identify and quantify improvement opportunities across the post-trade lifecycle. As the name suggests, the team has two primary missions:
1) to oversee the efficiency of business processes and providers and 2) to find opportunities for business process and technology improvements. Both rely on data analysis to identify trends, measure impacts and predict outcomes. The team partners closely with global, product aligned teams in Trade Operations to implement tactical and systematic solutions to optimize scale and reduce risk. The team also coordinates with external providers, particularly sell-side firms, to drive strategic change across the industry.

Responsibility

  • Detailed data interrogation and trend analysis
  • Interpret, simplify and present data to partners with various backgrounds
  • Translate data to identify potential opportunities to increase scale and/or reduce operational risk
  • Partner with management teams to prioritize and execute data strategy
  • Implement process change
  • Build and maintain constructive working relationships with internal and external partners to inspire change
  • Manage internal and external partners
  • Conduct meetings with external providers to discuss performance metrics and drive performance improvement
  • Participate in local, regional and global initiatives
  • Support colleagues in a global team environment
  • Review and documentation business process
  • Experience
  • 12+ years working in buy-side investment operations with proficiency in trade confirmations and settlements
  • Proven track record of leading and motivating teams
  • Analytic problem solver comfortable working with large data sets
  • Strong organization skills with the ability to multi-task and manage deadlines effectively
  • Excellent communicator, able to simplify and convey complex themes to different audiences
  • Capable with SQL, JIRA and Microsoft Office applications, especially PowerPoint and BI
