JOB OVERVIEW

Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of Trades Management Supervisor - Maintenance
Reporting to the Senior Manager of Maintenance/Production, this role is accountable to the Manager of Work Centre/Maintenance for overseeing a multidisciplinary team. This team includes, but is not limited to, Technicians/Technologists, Service Trades Maintainers, General Tradespersons, and Union Trades Supervisors. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising planned and emergency maintenance, overhauls, and rehabilitation activities at Non-Nuclear Generating Stations and associated facilities, including Control Dams and Service Centres.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Supervise a multidiscipline crew of trades’ staff including Mechanical Technicians/Technologists, Service Trades Maintainers (which includes Crane Operators), General Tradespersons and Union Trades Supervisors.
  • Monitor the work performance of staff in such areas as safety, environment, quality of work, quantity of work, cost efficiency, timekeeping and conduct.
  • Own mechanical scope of work management program of the station
  • Take required measures to correct job performance and performance management issues, manage disability issues and Code of Business Conduct concerns.
  • Take on the job corrective action and recommend to the Manager - Work Centre/Maintenance further action as required.
  • Develop, appraise and motivate staff including responding to employees’ concerns and problems.
  • Supervise temporary staff consisting of trades staff, developmental students, and summer students as required.
  • Other Duties as Required

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School diploma plus three years’ further concentrated study and/or certificate of qualifications (Millwright, Boilermaker etc)
  • Minimum 6 years’ experience in mechanical trades
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience supervising trade staff
  • Experience working in mechanical systems and using mechanical trades practices.
  • Familiarity with work protection is a must
  • Experience conducting Safe Work Planning and O&Cs related to mechanical trades activities within the station.
  • Experience with review, establishment and coordination of Work Protection related to mechanical systems within the station.
