Description:

Draper, Inc., a family-owned business since 1902, is looking for applicants for a Traffic Clerk position. There are two schedule options for this position: either 8 p.m. to 12 a.m. or 1 p.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Thursday. The primary responsibilities and minimum qualifications are listed below.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Proficient in relevant computer applications such as Excel, Outlook, SharePoint and Word.
  • Working knowledge of relevant electronic equipment (scanners, electronic boards).
  • Understanding of freight classification.
  • Experience with relevant TMS software.
  • Numeracy skills
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Detail oriented
  • Able to work at a pace to meet expected timelines.
  • Demonstrates effective teamwork to reach common goal more efficiently

Responsibilities:

  • Obtain scheduled shipment information from customer service/sales/production.
  • Prepare paperwork for shipments using Draper selected software or other carrier software.
  • Choose the carrier and rate that best fits the shipment, Draper and Customer requirements.
  • Apply the correct classification, NMFC, and subcategory to all shipments.
  • Prepare bills of lading and maintain documentation of goods shipped.
  • Prepare and print shipment labels and customs documents where necessary
  • Check delivery drivers in and out through the day.
  • Provide outbound detail reports and bills of lading.
  • Verify all tracking information has been added to ERP System and is accurate.
  • Notify sales on any schedule or order changes.
  • Enter daily activity information into electronic platforms (ERP system and other designated systems).
  • Maintain work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Comply with all safety regulations.
  • Adhere to standard operating procedures.
  • Other Duties as assigned which could include such things as creating work instructions and cycle counting.
