Job Description
CIMA+ is seeking to hire a Traffic/Road Safety Engineer or Engineering Trainee to support our expanding traffic and safety practice in Ontario. You will have the opportunity to broaden your experience by being exposed to many aspects of road safety and traffic engineering, including Vision Zero planning, traffic analysis and modelling, traffic and road safety data collection and processing, network screening, roadway and railway safety reviews, research and literature reviews, development of policies and guidelines, and public and stakeholder consultation.
CIMA+ provides the opportunity to work with recognized senior professionals in the transportation field to learn and advance in your profession. Ongoing training is offered to allow you to continually upgrade your skills.
The opening is available in any of our Ontario offices – Burlington, Mississauga, Ottawa, or Kitchener.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3+ years of progressive experience in Traffic Engineering and Road Safety.
  • 4-year Civil Engineering degree or Transportation Engineering Technology diploma from an accredited post-secondary institution in Canada
  • Familiarity with OTM Books, TAC/MTO Design Guides, MUTCDC, HCM, HTA.
  • Working knowledge of traffic analysis software (Synchro/SimTraffic, HCS).
  • Professional Engineering (PEO) is an asset.
  • Highly motivated, enthusiastic, and team-oriented with a strong desire to succeed.
  • Detail-oriented and works with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to prioritize a variety of tasks and have the attitude that client service is top priority.
  • Proficient technical writer capable of documenting/explaining road safety and traffic observations, findings, and recommendations.
  • Exceptional organizational and time-management skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office Suite of products.
  • Valid Driver’s license and vehicle are assets.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with senior technical staff to develop high-quality and technically accurate end products,
  • Conduct site visits, field observations and field measurements,
  • Conduct data collection and processing in support of traffic and road safety initiatives,
  • Communicate with Clients and other team members,
  • Undertake research and literature reviews in concurrence with various projects,
  • Conduct statistical analysis in support of traffic and road safety modelling,
  • Conduct public and stakeholder engagement,
  • Prepare Technical Reports, proposals, and presentations, and
  • Other duties as assigned.
