WE ARE SEEKING

Gilbert has an exciting opportunity for a Traffic Sign Technician I who is innovative, driven, and passionate about performing highly skilled advanced level work in the fabrication, design and layout of street signs throughout the Town. Responsibilities include operating specialized equipment, performing skilled repairs and providing customer service. As assigned, some incumbents may serve as Crew Leaders for assigned functions, making work assignments, monitoring completion of work, and providing training and prioritization of work. Incumbents provide technical knowledge regarding assigned functions and ensure proper procedures and quality of service.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Actively participates and accomplishes organizational, departmental and workgroup goals and objectives.
• Design, layout and develop signs and graphics using a computer.
• Performs fabrication and installation of Town signs.
• Produce visual communication materials for special events/projects.
• Install signs in accordance with Federal, State, Town and MUTCD (Manual and Uniform Traffic Control Devices) specifications and/or project needs.
• Performs specialized installation, inspections, maintenance and repair work related to signs in need of repair/re-standing in a timely fashion.
• Keeps computerized inventory up-to-date and ensures availability of adequate supplies, equipment and/or materials such as: roll goods, prefabricated sign faces, and sign blanks, Initiates requests for inventory replacement and may participate in vendor selections.
• Operates and/or maintains a variety of medium and/or heavy equipment, utility vehicles, tools, diagnostics and measuring devices and/or other specialized equipment.
• Communicates information to the public regarding the installation of signs near their property and answers questions.
• Removes graffiti and stickers from signs and posts.
• Performs trimming of vegetation to eliminate sight obstruction.
• Coordinates work activities with other Town departments, other agencies and private contractors.
• Uses proper traffic control and barricading while working in or around roadways.
• Other duties as assigned.
