Description:
Can-Traffic Traffic Signal Technicians assist with the installation, maintenance and repair of traffic signal systems, subsystems, pedestrian crossovers, street lighting, flashing beacons and other traffic electrical devices. The majority of the work is completed in and around Edmonton’s surround municipalities and requires frequent out of town, short term assignments. SKILLS REQUIRED
- Strong time management and organizational skills with an ability to be adaptable, manage multiple priorities and work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of machinery, equipment, and tools necessary for the installation, maintenance, and repair of traffic cabinets and roadway lighting
- Ability to perform physical labour as part of the job duties
- Ability to work in inclement weather conditions
- Ability to workdays/nights/weekends or out of town if necessary
- Strong computer skills
QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED
- Valid Journeyman or Apprentice Electrician
- Valid Alberta Class 5 (non GDL) driver’s license and submission of a 5-year Driver’s Abstract with less than 7 demerits
- Valid Fall Protection, Standard First Aid, Aerial Work Platform safety certificates
- International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA CPS) Signal certification is an asset
- IMSA CPS Work Zone Certification
- IMSA CPS Traffic Signal Technician Level I
- IMSA CPS Traffic Signal Technician Level II

Responsibilities:
- Install, maintain and repair traffic signal systems, subsystems, pedestrian crossovers, street lighting, flashing beacons and other traffic electrical devices
- Implement and monitor traffic signal timing plans
- Perform routine diagnostics of signal malfunctions utilizing traffic signal control systems
- Maintain accurate records, including material inventory and diaries of daily activities
- Maintain, inspect, and clean vehicles and equipment
- Assist with designing and implementing maintenance procedures
- Ensure quality, compliance, and safety of company’s assets
