Description:
The YMCA International Services Therapist is responsible for delivering trauma-focused, evidence-based mental health treatment to victims of human trafficking and refugees. The successful candidate for this position will be fully licensed to practice in the state of Texas and will have a passion for working with clients who have experienced complex trauma (sex/labor trafficking, displacement, war/genocide, addiction, and/or physical and emotional abuse.)
Outcomes:
The YMCA International Therapist will see an average of 15 clients per week in individual sessions, will update and maintain appropriate documentation, utilize evidence-based assessment tools, and will participate in regular meetings with TPAP’s case managers and advocates, who work closely with the clients referred for therapy.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Provide crisis intervention and safety planning for survivors immediately following their trafficking experience.
- Conduct evidence-based assessments; develop culturally appropriate and client centered treatment plans; and provide regular psychosocial updates.
- Work collaboratively with program advocates and clients to ensure clients have an individualized and robust service plan for overcoming barriers to healing.
- Provide evidence-based individual, family, and group counseling to address substance abuse, trauma, grief and loss, relational, and resiliency factors.
- Incorporate psychoeducation intervention into treatment.
- Support clients through the criminal justice process, as needed.
- Maintain clear and accurate documentation for all client services and interactions in case files and the information management system.
- Follow all client confidentiality and privacy requirements and standards.
- Attend weekly staff meetings to coordinate care.
Requirements:
- Education: LCSW, LMFT, LPC, or LPC-I/LMSW under outside supervision.
- Ability to work with culturally diverse populations, to include individuals with disabilities, substance abuse, and those who identify as LGBTQ.
- Strong interviewing, assessment, organizational, and problem solving skills.
- Bilingual Spanish/English required
- Proficient in computer applications and programs, such as Word, Microsoft Excel, and utilization of the internet in performing job duties.
- Excellent conflict management skills.
- Excellent communication and writing skills required.
- Good organizational skills and an ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Able to collaborate and work effectively with YMCA staff and community stakeholders.
- Must have reliable transportation, a clean driving record and show proof of current auto insurance.
