Description:

We are recruiting an Actuarial Trainee (graduate or part qualified) to join our Actuarial Function at AXA Ireland.
This role is to support our expansion into Health Underwriting in Ireland. This is an excellent opportunity to join a team responsible for delivering solutions which will shape and drive AXA’s initiatives for all classes of business / channels / territories written by AXA Ireland (Property, Casualty & Health).

Responsibilities:

Working in the team you will provide reporting, insights, and analytical solutions which will shape and drive AXA’s new initiatives within the Actuarial Function. You will work in a team of Actuaries, data scientists, analysts, and engineers, while your main responsibilities will include:

  • Data preparation & manipulation, including reconciliations and analysis using software such as SAS, R and Excel.
  • Analysing large internal or external data sets, presenting trends and analysis to audiences with varying technical knowledge.
  • Assisting with the production of regulatory reports.
  • Assisting with the production of internal reports, used to monitor performance and shape strategies.
  • Working alongside multiple areas of the business on deep dive queries and projects.
  • Investigate and report on latest industry trends and their impact on the business.
  • Is flexible within the role and prepared to undertake other duties as assigned by line manager from time to time.

Your Profile

  • Minimum graduate level required (actuarial 3rd level course or 3rd level degree in statistics / mathematics)
  • Knowledge of tasks relating to area e.g. embedding, rate adequacy, rating changes, risk modelling, propensity modelling, account performance.
  • Experience using R, SAS, and Excel.
  • Good business knowledge of Retail products (product features, rating structures, IT systems, market…)
  • Strong work ethic with the ability to balance work demands & study for actuarial exams.
  • Good written and oral communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly and concisely to both a technical and non-technical audience.
  • Able to apply analytical problem solving, make recommendations, and implement improvements continuously in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Team worker with responsibility & accountability for their own work.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously to meet tight reporting deadlines.
