Trainee Clinical Associate Psychologist in Adult Mental Health
As part of the NHS Transformation, we are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity to join our growing team of psychological professionals in the Doncaster Care Group as a Trainee Clinical Associate in Psychologist (CAP) specialising in older adults. The position is a new addition to the Psychological workforce, supporting the wider NHS agenda to develop and expand psychological provision to older people in the Community Mental Health Team of the Doncaster Care Group.
Whilst being supported to study for a MSc in Clinical Associate Psychology, you will specialise in delivering psychological assessments and interventions to older people with mental health conditions across the Doncaster Care Group, working alongside other psychological and multidisciplinary members of staff, all under the supervision of an experienced HCPC registered Practitioner Psychologist. You will also have the opportunity to support the delivery of a new groupwork programme and administer neuropsychological assessments.
To assist and support the work of the Clinical Psychologist and other therapeutic professionals in delivering psychological assessments and individual and group interventions to older adults with mental health conditions and complex emotional needs, and/or a diagnosis of dementia. This will include direct and indirect contact with current patients and their carers, along with liaison with the multidisciplinary team (where appropriate) and referrers/agencies as required.
In addition, the post involves assistance in clinically related administration, producing psycho-educational and group work material, administering neuro assessments, collating data and supporting the delivery of training to the wider teams. There will be opportunities to attend reflective practice sessions with a community psychologist, CBT therapist, other trainee CAPs and a Consultant Psychologist.
