Nib Travel (World Nomads) are looking for a Trainee Financial Accountant to join our growing team.
This position will assist in the preparation and maintenance of financial data and reports under the direction of the Financial Controller to ensure the accuracy of nib’s financial results and compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.

LET’S TALK ABOUT YOU
- Working towards completion of accountancy exams
- Minimum of 1-2 years’ experience in a finance team role
- Experience of using accounting systems is preferred
- Trainees should be graduates, with an interest in obtaining an accountancy qualification
- Be committed and motivated to studying towards the ACCA qualification or CA with Chartered Accountants Ireland (CAI) to become a chartered accountant or CIMA, to become a management accountant
- Experience with high volume processing and general ledger transactions
- Strong organisational skills including the ability to meet tight deadlines, prioritise workload, work both collaboratively and independently
- Complex Microsoft Excel capability
- Strong attention to detail
- Proven accuracy and efficiency in data entry
- Analytical skills including being able to identify, assess and solve problems
- Able to communicate in a clear manner, both verbally and in writing
- Strong communication skills

Responsibilities:
- Assist with the preparation of journal entries and post to the general ledger
- Maintain inter Group and intra Ireland recharges on a monthly basis
- Maintain bank and balance sheet reconciliation for all entities to ensure comprehension of all entries.
- Assist the team with preparation of VAT return and tax requirements
- Liaise with Finance Shared Services team in Australia, as required
- Support the finance team in preparation and analysis of a variety of types of data including:
- Month end management reports
- Cost centre reporting and analysis
- Other data to assist business unit managers with monitoring and management of the business, as required
- Investigation of designated general ledger accounts to ensure a full understanding of the data within the accounts
- Assist the finance team with process reviews periodically to enable procedures to be consistently and appropriately performed.
- Assist with reconciliation of underwriting journals and entries as well as creation of underwriting reports and investigation of data
- Assist with the requirements of the annual audits
- Learn the accounting standards to apply to areas of the finance function
- Participate with additional finance tasks when necessary
