Established for over 45 years and now one of the largest engineering and fabrication companies in the UK, WEC Group Ltd requires a professional Trainee Health & Safety Officer to join our team at our headquarters in Darwen, Lancashire.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced and motivated Trainee Health & Safety Officer, who can improve the Health and Safety systems and culture within a dynamic and rapidly expanding engineering company.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE

• Excellent organization skills
• Excellent communication skills at all levels
• Highly motivated and enthusiastic about maintaining/improving health and safety processes
• A good working knowledge and understanding of health & safety processes
• A high level of IT skills, including Microsoft word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
• A full UK driving licence
• Ability to lead improvements
• Held a similar position previously, or is working towards becoming a H&S professional
• Health & safety qualifications would be beneficial
• Previous health & safety experience within an engineering environment is beneficial

• Health & Safety Inspections/site walk rounds
• Document control
• Creation or amendments of toolbox talks/procedures/policies/work instructions/safe systems of work etc
• Emergency evacuation drills
• COSHH arrangements
• First aid arrangements
• H&S KPIs
• DSE arrangements
• Accident and near miss arrangements
• Risk assessments
• Audits
• Continuous improvement
• Travelling between sites in one of the provided pool cars
• Support the Group QHSE Manager with any other health, safety or environmental duties as and when required
