Trainee Healthcare Assistant (part time/full time)

Aire Valley Surgery has an exciting opportunity for a new entry level Health care Assistant to be fully trained up and gain qualifications and experience to progress to a level 3 Health Care Assistant over the next few years. Full training and support will be given to acquire all of the skills required to develop into a Health Care Assistant.
The Health Care Assistants at our surgery undertake a wide range of tasks and procedures to support our clinical teams, ranging from taking bloods, asking lifestyle questions, performing ECGs, assisting the GPs, chaperoning, dressings and administering vaccinations for flu and COVID. The role also includes stock ordering, replenishing rooms and cleaning clinical equipment, etc
This position involves working part time over 15-37.5 hours per week. The role will be based at both of our two sites – Rawdon or within Silver Lane Surgery in Yeadon on a regular rota. We aim to offer appointments to patients at times convenient for workers to attend, which are often towards the start of the day or the end of the day.
The pay will equivalent to national living wage for the first 12 months whilst basic training is underway, and then will be reviewed each year until the trainee has completed the level 3 HCA qualification, and can then be paid at a Band 3 equivalent.
The ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator with a positive and friendly professional manner with good time management skills. Experience of working in a customer service environment will be beneficial and a good level of achievement of Maths and English.
As this is a clinical position, an enhanced DBS check and strong references are essential. Anyone who is currently registered as a patient at Aire Valley Surgery must be prepared for themselves and their immediate household to register at a different surgery.
