Trainee Pharmacy Dispensing Assistant - Band 2 - Annex 20 applies
Part time 30 hours per week
Annex 20 applies: This post falls within the provisions of Agenda for Change Annex 20 - Development of Professional Roles, whereby upon completion of an agreed set of competencies you may move onto the next pay band without the need for an application for a post at a higher level (as a Ward Medicines Assistant).
To communicate routine information with other healthcare staff to ensure that a safe and effective system of supply of medicines is maintained to patients. To communicate routine information with patients/ carers concerning their medicines which may include to patients with communication difficulties. Must be able to demonstrate the English language proficiency level required for this post
To contribute to the delivery of a comprehensive and modern ward pharmacy service.
Undertaking activities in the dispensary and also at ward level which contribute to the efficient and effective delivery of medicines to patients e.g. medicines supply, drug administration, and dispensing medication.
We manage three major locality hospitals at North Tyneside, Wansbeck and Hexham, plus a number of smaller community hospitals and clinics from Tynemouth to Berwick on Tweed, in addition to the Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital. We also care for people in their homes and provide services from facilities in local communities such as health centres. We give people greater choice and control over their care to help them to live independently at home and avoid hospital admission where appropriate. To undertake activities within the pharmacy and at ward level which contributes to the efficient and effective delivery of medicines to patients.
To participate in the dispensing of medication for outpatients, inpatients and day-case patients.
To participate in the checking of patient’s own drugs on the wards.
To participate in the provision of a ward topping up service including the ordering, distribution and the safe/secure storage of medicines.
To undertake the preparation of medicines e.g. over-labelled packs, emergency
