Description:

My name’s Keir Brisbane and I am the new Service Manager for the Youth Service.
In our service we support young people (aged 14-25 years) who are experiencing moderate to severe mental health difficulties. We have enthusiastic and skilled staff who provide the support that is needed - and they are motivated to make a real difference to young people, their families and carers.
As an employer, I and Norfolk and Suffolk Foundation Trust are particularly committed to enabling our staff to do the very best they can through support and training, as well as opportunities for progression. We are confident, therefore, that the right candidate will have a real chance to make a positive impact to the lives of young people in Norfolk.
As a service we are striving to meet the challenges that we are facing, and to create a working environment that is sustainable, effective for our young people, and fulfilling for our staff.

We’re really excited to offer this trainee DBT therapist post within our North Youth Team. In this role you will train in the discipline of Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, and – upon successful accreditation* – progress to the role of Band-7 Psychological Therapist. This is a chance to be a major force for change in the service, and to develop your skills to meet the needs of our young people.

  • please note that progression will also be contingent upon satisfactory performance within your role.

The role of the Trainee Psychological Therapist (DBT) within our Youth Service is to provide skilled therapeutic interventions to our service-users, and to work collaboratively with your colleagues to shape how we meet this need. Tasks could include:
Providing consultation to indirectly support the delivery of treatment by others.
Providing clinical supervision to other practitioners within the service.
Completing a postgraduate diploma programme in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT).
Delivering skilled and creative therapeutic interventions 1:1 and within a group-based setting.
Supporting families and carers to understand and assist with therapeutic interventions.
Conducting assessments and formulation in order to truly understand the lived experience of our young people.
Here at NSFT we pride ourselves on being a welcoming, talented, friendly and supportive team who like nothing better than sharing experiences and learning from each other. In addition to ongoing training and development opportunities, we are committed to providing an environment in which you can thrive.
Why work for us? We have challenges as a Trust, but we have ambitious aspirations, are pushing ahead with exciting transformation work and we need dedicated individuals to support us on our journey. We have strong, established professional networks coupled with an exceptional leadership team who will ensure you are truly cared for and cared about.
Why Norfolk and Suffolk? The people here are warm and welcoming, you’ll never be far from the beautiful coastline or Broads National Park. We’re an hour and a half away from London and have an international airport in Norwich too. Our villages, towns and cities are packed full of history, independent cafes, shops and theatres. We have excellent shopping, eating out, top ranking schooling and affordable house prices too.
