TRAINEE SEED ANALYST

In addition to supplying quality seed to farmers, they also process seed for most national and international seed breeders in the UK.
An exciting opportunity has opened for an enthusiastic and diligent individual to work in their seed testing laboratory as a member of a small team.
Taking direction from the Analyst in Charge, as a Trainee Seed Analyst you will assist in all aspects of seed analysis and general laboratory duties. Laboratory experience is an advantage, but not essential as full on-site training will be provided.
External courses and appropriate formal qualifications will begin after suitable internal training has been concluded.

EDUCATION

• GCSEs at grade C or above, inclusive of Maths, English and Science
• Proficient with Microsoft programs

• Registration and preparation of submitted samples
• Mixing and division of official samples
• Evaluation of line samples
• Analysis of samples for moisture and purity
• Accurate and timely reporting of results
• Preparation of germination media
• Planting of germination samples
• Weed identification
• Cleaning and calibration of lab equipment
• Cleaning and maintenance of the laboratory
