North East Derbyshire District Council is a dynamic and ambitious organisation that takes pride in delivering excellent services to our community whilst driving economic growth and environmental sustainability for the district.
We are excited to offer an opportunity for individuals who are eager to learn, grow and kick start their career in ICT.
As a trainee at North East Derbyshire District Council you will have the chance to work alongside experienced professionals, gain hands on experience and develop valuable skills that will set you up for success.
Our Joint ICT Service Desk are responsible for much more than call logging and first-line support. We work across traditional ICT boundaries by providing second-line desktop and project support and also have responsibility for many key ICT systems.

The postholder will have the opportunity to:

  • get involved in various ICT projects, undertake training in new technologies, and support hybrid working.
  • contribute to cybersecurity projects including supporting deployment of MS Windows 11 and enrolling devices in MS Endpoint Manager.

Taking a flexible, and pro-active approach to your workload is essential together with the ability to learn quickly on-the-job. Interpersonal skills are just as important as technical and problem-solving skills. The post holder will be required to work efficiently as a member of a busy Service Desk team.
You will be given the opportunity to access training courses and gain industry recognised certifications from CompTIA and Microsoft. Time will be provided off-the-job to progress training and sit exams. Day-to-day mentoring, guidance, and on-the-job learning will be provided. This would be an ideal post for someone with no formal ICT qualifications but who has an interest in starting, or changing to, a career in ICT.
This is a full-time temporary post for 12 months. However, on successful completion of the trainee programme, and excellent job performance, the post-holder will be eligible to apply for future job opportunities available.
The successful candidates will be subject to a Disclosure carried out by the DBS at the Basic Level.
