Description:
Job Title: Technical Writer/Instructional Designer
Duration: 8 months
Clearance: Reliability
Location: Remote, with occasional meetings in Ottawa
Procom is seeking a highly skilled Bilingual Documentation Specialist with experience in technical writing for Dynamics and SharePoint platforms, for a Government of Canada client. The ideal candidate will document new features in existing applications, including MS Dynamics Online, SharePoint Online, Microsoft Portal, Power BI, and other Microsoft tools as they are developed. The role will involve creating clear, concise, and user-friendly documentation for a variety of applications, as well as identifying areas for standardization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Documenting new features in existing applications, such as MS Dynamics Online (Knowledge Base), SharePoint Online, Microsoft Portal, Power BI, and other Microsoft tools.
- Identifying and documenting the new IRAP application as it evolves through various phases.
- Highlighting and addressing areas of inconsistency in application language or functionality to ensure standardization.
- Documenting IT-related information, including best practices for digital tools like WalkMe.
Required Skills and Experience:
- (3) years of experience within the last five (5) years in creating training content, including documenting training help text, user manuals, and technical documentation for a Microsoft Dynamics Online and SharePoint Online implementation.
- At least eight (8) years of experience within the past fifteen (15) years documenting existing business system functionality in any of the following areas:
- Customer Relationship Management (CRM)
- Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)
- Supply Chain Management (SCM)
- Financial Management Systems (FMS)
- Three (3) years of experience within the past eight (8) years working as a Technical Writer within a public sector setting in Canada (Federal, Provincial, Municipal, or Crown Corporation).
- Bilingual (English and French) – able to communicate both orally and in writing in both languages.
- At least five (5) projects documenting business system functionality, covering all of the following:
- Workflows
- Swim lanes
- Data dictionaries
- Three (3) years of experience within the last ten (10) years documenting grants and contribution systems, considering both external and internal user perspectives.
- Two (2) projects involving the development of release documentation, including plans, presentation material, communications, and release notes.
- Three (3) years of experience within the last ten (10) years using Azure DevOps.
Responsibilities:
- Documenting new features in existing applications, such as MS Dynamics Online (Knowledge Base), SharePoint Online, Microsoft Portal, Power BI, and other Microsoft tools.
