Description:

REQUIREMENTS

  • At least 3 years’ experience in the vehicle transport industry (car hauling)
  • Skills in andragogy (adult education)
  • Knowledge of the behaviour of owners and operators of heavy vehicles abstract (an asset)
  • Knowledge of New Brunswick and Halifax Highway Safety Codes
  • Physical ability to stand and move around, working at heightsClass 1 driving licence

Responsibilities:

ROLE SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the Quality, Safety and Training (QST) Supervisor, the Trainer-Inspector is responsible for teaching trucking concepts as well as specialized concepts related to the transportation of vehicles to all drivers.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure that trips are maximised (no free places)
  • Assist & train drivers on loading & unloading routines
  • Carry out road tests with the trucks for the garage and also help with the move
  • Ensure that all drivers complete their RDS and log book on their mobile phone
  • Inspect trips to CN and other locations, loaded and empty lorries
  • Check that drivers have their mechanical checks done before departure and on return
  • Inspect vehicles with LDS
  • Ensure that our drivers comply with the company’s health and safety rules and introduce 1 safety topic per month
  • Overall training of new drivers in accordance with the Canada work programme
  • Ensure compliance of trucks and binders with MIR
  • Participate in the damage meeting and inform drivers of what they can improve and what is newParticipate in the ‘Transportez Vert’ programme (diesel/petrol savings)
  • Approve drop/reload with trip drawing
  • Accompany drivers on the road
  • Master the risk prevention programme and apply it to drivers
  • Travel to our various terminals
  • Participate in various company committees as requiredInvestigate and analyse various accidents (road & work)
